This session will be election training, focusing on Municipal Board of Canvass, Local Board of Canvass, their differences and common election day mistakes.

Board of Canvass/ Common Errors Training – Agenda
10-15 Minutes- Greetings – Discussion of open records and how errors in election forms looks to the public.
2 hour and 45 Minutes - Explanation of County Board of Canvass and Municipal Board of Canvass
- Discuss CBOC, MBOC and LBOC – When they are required and the differences between MBOC and LBOC.
- Review the general process of the Board of Canvass – Give an overview of the Town of Crescent process at the end of election night. Provide Town of Crescent MBOC/LBOC Canvass Checklist. Review Canvass tasks.
- Discussion common mistakes made on election day that impact the board of canvass (see list of common errors)
- Errors on Inspector’s Statement – Importance of the Inspector’s statement, importance of documenting issues on election day and how this helps at the canvass.
- Pollbooks – Specifically missing signatures/numbers and how that can impact the vote counts. Stress it is the towns responsibility to make sure that at the end of the night the number of voters (not voter numbers) and the number of ballots match. If they do not match the MBOC needs to find that error before turning it over to the County.
- Tapes and Tally Sheets – Document # of paper ballots

- Ballots – Discuss difference between Original and Spoiled Ballots
