Most electors are required to register as a condition of voting. When a voter registers, they are certifying that they meet all of the legal requirements to vote, including age, citizenship, and residence, and that they are not disqualified due to a felony conviction or adjudication of incompetency. Most electors are required to present proof of their residence when registering. Some types of voters, such as confidential voters, have additional procedures and protections in place to protect their information.
